Adults – Introductory Sailing Courses
This introductory course for adults will teach you the basics of sailing. You will become familiar with boat parts and sailing terminology. You will train on steering, tacking, jibbing, sail trim, and docking to get you started on the water, where you will have the opportunity to handle a 19′ Rhodes sailboat.

Pre-teen/Teen Courses
Afternoon Sailing Courses for Teens/Preteens (Grades 6+)
Youth will develop confidence on and off the water, gain familiarity with fundamental sailing skills and enhance their respect for water. Students will learn such skills as jibing, taking, steering, getting out of iron, and points of the sail. They will also learn safety skills such as right-of-way rules, capsize recovery, overboard recovery and water safety.

Evening Sailing Club for Teens/Preteens (Grades 6+)
Join like-minded students from grades 6-12 and learn to sail. This club format will allow you to learn to sail on Lake Michigan. You will learn basic techniques. The club will be available eight Thursday evenings during the summer. The more often you come, the more skilled you will be. Try something new this summer!
Students can start any time during this session. No makeup classes. (May be rescheduled for weather reasons.)
If parents/students wish to continue this class after 8/20, it would cost $25.00 per week and require 3 students to hold the session.

Kids Courses
Morning Sailing Courses for Kids (Grades 3-5)
We will teach your child how to sail in a small sailboat in the Kenosha Harbor. We want children to have fun and enjoy the summer while learning how to appreciate and be safe around water. *Students are encouraged to attend multiple sessions.*
Recommended for students entering third through fifth grade.

All-Day Youth Courses
All Day Youth Sailing Courses (Ages 7+)
We will teach your child how to sail a small boat in the Kenosha harbor. They will gain familiarity with the fundamentals of sailing and enhance their respect for the water. Kids will learn such skills as jibing, taking, steering, getting out of irons, and points of sail. They will also learn safety skills such as right-of-way rules, capsize recovery, overboard recovery and water safety. This class includes play on the water and time to practice skills. Students will also likely have time to experience our other water craft such as our paddle boards, kayaks and pedal ducks.

Family Sailing Courses
Family sessions are scheduled individually with the instructor and will consist of approximately 12 hours of instruction. We typically scheduled 3-hour classes over four weeks, but we are flexible and will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Private Sailing Lessons
KCSC recognizes people are working with complex scheduling issues. We can arrange private lessons for anyone of any age. Schedules can be set up as needed by the student. This method of learning can work well for the person who has experience sailing, but it has been a while and they need refreshing; the more advanced student who wants to work intensely to increase specific skills; or someone who wants something other than group instruction.

Youth Homeschool Group Sailing Courses
A 4-week private class for up to 8 homeschool students from ages 7-10, taught on Opti boats, a very stable boat for beginners. No experience necessary!
Homeschoolers will learn about safety, boat parts, rigging, knots, sailing terminology, and points of sail. On-the-water instruction includes tacking and gybing, steering, boat balance, launching, docking, and capsize recovery.

Boy Scouts & Other Youth Group Sailing Courses
Boy Scouts may work with a Boy Scout Counselor toward a sailing merit badge. Scouts will learn about safety, boat parts, rigging, knots, sailing terminology, and points of sail. On-the-water instruction includes tacking and gybing, steering, boat balance, launching, docking, and capsize recovery. We can also customize classes for other youth groups based on your needs. Water Safety & Stem Outreach Program
Kenosha Community Sailing Center is offering a exciting, educational and FREE program teaching middle schoolers how to safely enjoy Lake Michigan. Our level 3 US Sailing Instructor will be teaching this program including STEM & Water Safety activities.
