 Adult Introduction to Sailing

This course introduces adults (15 or older with adult) to sailing small dinghies & keel boats. This course includes an online component; following the completion of the online classroom class. The balance of the course is comprised of four weeks hands-on sailing.

The goal of this on-line course is to introduce the student to the principles and vocabulary of sailing, and specific topics like wind power and knot-tying.  A sailing student will have access to this course when they sign-up for one of the sailing course. If a student has signed-up for an introductory course, they must complete the first three sections online course before the first in person introductory class meeting.

The first course is on shore and teaches basic sailing theory, terminology, and procedures for rigging and sailing trim. The remaining time is spent on the water learning to put the basics into practice. Check the calendar for meeting dates and runs for 4 weeks. Space is limited… sign-up today!

Adult Intermediate Sailing

The intermediate course builds on the skills learned in the introduction class and the students become self-reliant in a variety of wind and wave conditions and able to maneuver a boat under power in the harbor. Check the calendar for meeting dates. Space is limited… sign-up today!

Open Sailing nights

Open sailing nights are for students and graduates which will give you and your crew members  the opportunity to practice your skills on the water.

Safety

  • All students will be required to wear a life-jacket (PFD). It is recommended that you bring your own personal life-jacket. This insures your size and fit.
  • Life-jackets will be made available to those who wish to wait to make such a personal investment.
  • It is cool on the water so please bring a jacket or sweatshirt. Also, soft-soled shoes (white soles) are required.
  • If there is no lightning we will sail – bring a rain jacket!
